Da un sito, discussione sul perchè le Meteor brasiliane non hanno il limitatore di velocità: "So am I correct in assuming that a "remap" is entirely an embedded software thing - reprogramming it? Or are there physical things that are done as well to accomplish that?
It's entirely software. I've been talking to RE workshop manager and he told me they need a "key" (like windows license key) to perform each remap. The key is unique and works once. It's sent by "royal's headquarters" or whatever equivalent. In Brazil, I think it's located in São Paulo. The remap is quick, it takes about 30-40 minutes at the dealer to do so. They have probably be prepared to do it fast due to the quantity of motorcyles sold until this solution. Nowadays, every motorcycle leaves the vendor remapped, but any of those who haven't it remapped can go to the dealer and get if for free, regardless of being under warranty."
